Maahic is Ho-Chunk for Milkweed: Explore and Paint!

  • Olbrich Botanical Gardens 3330 Atwood Avenue Madison, WI, 53704 United States (map)

Deejop, the land of four lakes (Madison), is Ho-Chunk land. In this class, Ho-Chunk member Bill Quackenbush will guide us in a conversation about milkweed, also known as maahic in the Ho-Chunk language. After tasting some traditional Ho-Chunk soup made with milkweed buds, we will use watercolors to paint a monarch butterfly sitting on a milkweed leaf. All supplies are provided and all skill levels welcome.
